Judy DeVincentis Morgan (Honorary Member)
Capturing the beauty of the spectacular Four Corners region is the goal of "plein air" painter, Judy Morgan. Formerly a marine art specialist from Newport, Rhode Island, she now concentrates on the varying landscapes of the rugged Rocky Mountains and the remote desert areas of the Colorado Plateau. The successful landscape artist's most recent oil paintings, acrylics, and watercolors reflect the dramatic shapes and vivid colors of this wilderness terrain.
The stimulus for Judy Morgan's creativity is the attraction to the natural landscape. The artist maintains that nature provides the very best painting subjects including the beauty of the mountain light, the desert formations, and the concepts and designs of coastal waters. Judy Morgan gains energy and excitement from painting scenes on the spot, out of doors. Her resulting pieces are mostly impressionistic, although when she paints from nature, the results can be an abstraction of the scene or may end up being quite representational.
The work of the artist, including stunning landscape paintings and colorful abstract art, may be viewed locally in the artist's personal gallery at Ponderosa Studio in Durango, Colorado; at Sendero Gallery in Durango, Colorado; at Blue Raven Gallery in Silverton, Colorado; at Houshang's Gallery, on the Plaza in Santa Fe, New Mexico; and at Galeria Bellas Artes in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico.
Judy's art appears in the Essential Guide To Santa Fe on the page with Houshang's Gallery. Her painting, "New Mexico Hills" is included in Plein Air Magazine, November 2014, with the New Mexico Plein Air Painters on page 17; additionally her painting, “Overlooking the Chama”, appeared June 2015 issue of Southwest Art, also with the New Mexico Plein Air painters.
"As a Plein Air artist, I look forward to the excitement that comes from painting in the fresh air and the joy of painting the scene witnessed first hand."
