The influence of the southwest is evident in my paintings, having lived in the 4-corners my entire life.
I prefer to paint from life, whether it is the landscape, a still life arrangement, or the human figure. My goal is to create a vibrant painting with loose, impressionistic brushstrokes.
My membership with the Plein Air Painters of the 4-corners has been invaluable to my growth as an artist and my endeavors to recreate a breathtaking landscape or to make mundane scenery breathtaking.
I’ve participated in numerous plein air (open air) paint outs and juried shows throughout the years, garnering awards along the way. My paintings can be found in public places and private homes.
I paint because of the challenge and joy of creating that I feel and, hopefully, touches the viewer of my art as it does me. Quoting 19th century renowned artist Edgar Degas, “Art is not what you see, it’s what you make others see.”
So, the journey continues….
