Fran Mayfield
Fran Mayfield is one of the founding members of the Plein Air Painters of the Four Corners and a signature member of the National Acrylic Painters Association. She enjoys painting outdoors in acrylics and taking that memory into the studio to convert to a looser, more abstract form in mixed media collage. Acrylics allow great versatility, from a thin, transparent application to a thicker, more opaque approach. In 2006 she was juried into and won awards in the 2006 Gateway to Imagination: A National Juried Art Competition, The Ouray County 46th Artist Alpine Holiday, the Durango Arts Center 30th Annual Juried Exhibit, The Pinion Arts and Humanities Alliance 15th Annual Juried Fine Arts Show and the Plein Air New Mexico Member Show.
In 2007 she received the Award of Excellence from Fort Lewis College Art Gallery and Best of Show at the Mesa Verde Plein Air Painters of the Four Corners Exhibit. She was invited to exhibit at the Henderson Fine Art Gallery in August of 2007 and is included in the permanent collection at San Juan College. More recently Fran was took second place in the 2011 Ouray Quick Draw Painting Event. In 2007 she received the Award of Excellence from Fort Lewis CollegeArt Gallery and Best of Show at the Mesa Verde Plein Air Painters of the Four Corners Exhibit.
