Rod Hubble (Honorary Member)

Self-taught artist Rod Hubble (b. 1947) began drawing and painting at a young age, and has painted professionally since 1973. His work has been shown as far away as Paris, France, in 1976, and on the American Train in Japan, in 1987. Having won many prestigious awards, the impressionist artist is also represented in corporate, state and private collections. He has held over 40 solo exhibitions of his work. In 2003, a Hubble painting was accepted into the prestigious New Mexico State Capitol Art Collection, from private donors. In 2011, Hubble was commissioned by the Horatio Alger Association of Distinquished Americans to paint from a bronze of the noted Alger, a painting from which prints were made for the recipients of the 2011 Award, among whom were Mayor Michael Bloomberg and film actor Leonardo Di Caprio. A seasoned teacher with a following of many students, the artist taught drawing and painting at San Juan College (which also has many Hubble paintings in their burgeoning art collection), for several years until in 2015, when he retired from the classroom to focus more on plein air painting. The artist now teaches a select group of plein air painters and is an honorary member of the Plein Air Painters of the Four Corners.  Published in three hardback "coffee table" books, Hubble has had major articles in Southwest Art Magazine (2003) and New Mexico Magazine (1992), as well as numerous regional magazines throughout his long career. He shows at Taylor Raymond Fine Art in Durango, Colorado, and Ventana Fine Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and also at his beautiful home in Farmington, New Mexico.
